As a local leader in cardiology, Dr. Chesnie offers some of the
most advanced treatment options available in medicine today. Here
are a few of them:
Pacemakers For slow or irregular heartbeat,
this small device is implanted to electrically monitor and control
your heartbeat.
Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD)
In a short procedure, Dr. Chesnie can implant this small lifesaving
device that has versatile pacing techniques as well as the ability
to shock the heart if it should stop. Dr. Chesnie pioneered this
procedure in Orange County in 1987.
Biventricular Implantable Pacemaker and Defibrillator
Similar to pacemaker and ICD implantation, but with electrical
leads going to both the left and right ventricles. This improves
filling of the heart, contracture of the heart and cardiac output.
These are new technologies that Dr. Chesnie pioneered at Hoag Memorial
Hospital in 2001. Improves quality of life and reduces the number
of hospital days.
Dr. Chesnie was the first doctor in Orange County
to perform this procedure as well as the first at Hoag Memorial
Hospital. This procedure has a 97% success rate for certain arrhythmias.
Expert Medication Programs Arrhythmia drugs
and other heart medications are very useful tools for heart problems,
and they require a great deal of respect, training and experience
to be used successfully.
